Newburgh: Hydrant Flushing
Dear Indiana American Water Customer, Last weekend, Indiana American Water's Newburgh Treatment & Operations Center experienced a slight disruption at our water treatment plant. As the result of this event, we understand that some customers are reporting a pinkish tint in their water. Our local operations team is working to correct this issue. We take water quality very seriously and your safety is our number one priority. The pink water that some customers are experiencing is the result of a slight imbalance of potassium permanganate, a chemical that is EPA approved and widely used in the drinking water treatment process. Onsite testing has determined that the drinking water continues to meet water quality standards for consumption. However, customers should avoid washing clothes until the discoloration subsides.
