Alton: Planned Water System Improvements/Boil Order Included
This is an important notification from Illinois American Water. Our crews will be performing a Main Replacement in Alton. Weather Permitting, the project will start on 10/26/2026 8:00am and be completed by approximately 10/26/2026 4:00pm. You reside in the affected area and may experience a service interruption or low water pressure. Repairs are expected to take 8 hours to complete.
When water is restored after the work has been completed, you will be under a Boil Water Order. Any water to be used for drinking or cooking should be brought to a rolling boil for 5 minutes. Water is OK for bathing, washing, and other common uses. You will be notified when the boil order has been lifted.
If you are a landlord and water service is in your name, please inform your tenants so they are aware of this impact to their water service. In keeping with American Water’s focus on safety for both customers and employees, please do not approach our crews while they work.
